Dr. Kathrin Stengel is co-founder and president of UWSP, Inc, award-winning publisher of Health Is in Your Hands: Jin Shin Jyutsu – Practicing the Art of Self-Healing.
A Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner and Self-Help teacher, Dr. Stengel studied philosophy in Belgium and Germany, and has taught at Seattle University and the Rhode Island School of Design. Her book November Rose: A Speech on Death - a meditation on loss, grief, and survival - won a 2008 Independent Publisher Book Award. Her most recent book Yoga for the Mind: A New Ethic for Thinking and Being & Meridians of Thought (with Michael Eskin) was honored with a 2013 Living Now Book Award. Dr. Stengel has been a frequent guest on radio programs throughout the US and Europe, and has organized and facilitated international philosophical events and studios. The founder of the Health is in Your Hands™ – Self-Help Center in New York City, where she is also a regular teacher, she has brought Health is in Your Hands™ – Self-Help to a range of NYC institutions, including The Dalton School, Booker T. Washington MS54, Tournesol Wellness, and the Ansche Chesed Synagogue. |
Dr. Michael Eskin is co-founder and CEO of UWSP, Inc., publisher of Health Is in Your Hands: Jin Shin Jyutsu – Practicing the Art of Self-Healing.
An award-winning author, critic, translator, publisher, and former fellow of Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge, he has taught at Cambridge and Columbia Universities. He has published widely on cultural, literary and philosophical subjects, including The Wisdom of Parenthood: An Essay (2013); Yoga for the Mind: A New Ethic for Thinking and Being & Meridians of Thought (with Kathrin Stengel; 2013); The DNA of Prejudice: On the One and the Many (2010); (under the pseudonym Misha Waiman) 17 Prejudices That We Germans Hold Against America and Americans and That Can't Quite Be True (2008); and Poetic Affairs: Celan, Grunbein, Brodsky (2008). A member of The Authors Guild, the Academy of American Poets, and PEN America, he has been a frequent guest on radio programs and lectured regularly on cultural, philosophical, and literary subjects across the US and Europe – as a guest of the United States Consulate General, Germany, The Federation of German-American Clubs, and Limmud, an international organization fostering cross-cultural Jewish education, among others. He lives in New York City. |
